Why US cities are banning new fast food drive throughs

While driving through unusual route, I found a Mcdonald sign that says open at 5am. Very recently I had the experience of picking up drive through food for a friend. Long time ago, as a student, it was late in the night and we were studying hard and needed to eat somethign. When we went to a fast-food place, only their drive through was open. We walked there as we were carless and would walk everywhere on the campus. We were quite surprised to here that to get the food through drive-through, you have to drive through and not walk through. Some funny time.
