How the Game Is Played
At the Girl Scouts meeting, we read the Lupe story. But before that, we did an activity that I found online. I distributed some chocolates unevenly.
I heard one say "I didnt get any", another say "I got two" while most got one. I asked them to be patient waiting for the co-leader, wishing the moment doesnt wane soon.
That was enough time for the kids to notice and correct the situation. I was surprised to see that each kid now had one chocolate. It was humbling to know that they knew the lesson already and nothing was to be taught. Some kids briefly enacted the story. What a creative lot.
From one of the stories shared, we also learned the importance of being fair to self too.
Next day, I was thinking about how it is not enough to have fairness, there has to be honesty too for the whole thing to work.
Gender pay gap reporting was found to reduce the gap.
