I have never heard of THP before and do not know much of Vietnam too.

But reading through this book, I see how it has managed the impossible by going deeper than the Western companies into the suburban areas and managing to stay ahead of its local competitors with a focus to wards lean process and independent audit requirements before the government regulations.
