Riding on a motorbike with the wind in my hair

Riding on a  motorbike with the wind in my hair is a song from my toddler's toy bike

The cool thing about the 2-in-1 Zoom Motorbiker is that it grows with your toddler, meaning it can be modified from 3 wheel to 2 wheel, when they grow up. Theres something about kids and bikes, irrespective of the number of wheels.

Imagine my surprise when I found BMW electric scooter  and realised they meant the real scooter and not the US scooter. The US scooter is a cool one. It appealed to the kid in me. Anything that gives you superhumna capabilities is awesome.

Five Stars: The Communication Secrets to Get from Good to Great

Recently I have been thinking of getting PMP certificate and wondering if the membership should come at the cost of Toastmasters, which i joined last year. The year before that I got curious about reading poetry aloud. I have veered from reading, creative writing to public speaking and leadership.

Personally for me, I inch to my goals by proximity, doing things which seem interesting then, not too clear about the future, but eventually it all falls in place. It’s the 1 degree rule but for veering off course, where you can change course totally without realizing ðŸ˜Š I think I am getting the hang of contrarian thinking.

From a year or so ago, when I was feverishly following marketers in social media, I stashed away Carmine Gallo as a to read author. When I chanced upon the book, I knew it would be worth reading. Given that the book is about storytelling, emotions come into play when you are reading it. I was mindful of seeing how Gallo himself told the story of his book in the big picture.

“Five stars” by Carmine Gallo is about the importance of storytelling and communication skills in the face of AI. In that I came across Shonda Rhymes the year of saying yes, I have read of it before too but haven’t gone to the heart of it. At that point, another thing came to mind. Rejection therapy. A while ago I told a friend about rejection therapy from a Ted talk, where Jia Jiang shared What he learned from 100 days of rejection.

They are two things on the opposite side. Saying yes to everything even though you fear and trying everything even though you might hear only no. Changing your and other’s no to yes.

In the 5 stars book, there is a quote by DFW –

“In other words, a real leader is somebody who can help us overcome the limitations of our own individual laziness and selfishness and weakness and fear and get us to do better things than we can get ourselves to do on our own.”

which sums up the bulletpoints better of what is necessary to do anything good/great if you think in the opposite

Christian Siriano at Payless

When you are on the border of teenage and adult sizes, finding right shoes can be tough. While W for wide shoes is a small mercy, the thing about shoes is, if they cover your heel, then it has to be your size.

Imagine my surprise when I found pointed shoes with kitten heel in my size. What are they doing there? I looked at them closely to find Christian Siriano for payless. The workmanship needs more finesse. You can tell on a close look, that the shoes shows the glued activity. In black this was obvious, in the peach one hope it is not so.
Style is a great welcome in these sizes and price ranges.

Rita Hazan- True Color Conditioner

Rita Hazan says, "I am not afraid of changing an entire look. I thrive on that". Think about it, we are so invested in one aspect of our look that it takes a while to get ok with the new look. I have had short hair for a long long time with a little bit of "Maggies cuts her hair" from Mill on the floss into the mix. To grow my hair out now after 15 years feels like a big thing but I know I can come back to my short look. Very Oliver Twisty The gift of the Magi way, when i am ready to sport a new look, I have premature grey hair.  To color or not to color is the donkey situation of being between two stacks of hay. Look at the warnings on the hair color bottles that it may explode. Thats enough to make anyone run a mile away.  I once heard a TV host explain why she doesnt color her premature grey hair. It is a reminder of the ticking time.

Lets say you get past this like the butcher doing the killing for non vegetarians, you get your hair colored at a salon and there is the incessant root hairs growing in their original color. I thought a root concealer, whoever conceived of it, is cool. But a coverup, like getting old is wrong somehow.  Rita Hazan took four years to create a root concealer. There will be days when one needs that convenience.

The situation calls for a poem.

Rituals The Ritual of Ayurveda Gift Set + The Ritual of Sakura Foaming Shower Gel

If you are familiar with India or Japan, you might be familiar with Ayurveda and or Sakura. Imagine those centuries old tradition knowledge in your tub in an elegant set. Now transport yourself back to those centuries and a sense of calm and life from those times. Do you feel timeless?

In Ritual: Perpestives and Dimensions, author Catherine Bell talks about six categories of ritual action - rites of passage, calendrical and commemorative rites, rites of exchange and communication, rites of affliction, rites of feasting, festivals and political rituals.

When you change rituals, you feel powerful and in control. For example, if you can mimic your mind into thinking Thursday is the new Friday or the 40s are the new 30s, how energetic and young you feel.

Thames & Kosmos Drop it Family Strategy game

As a Toastmasters member I have heard a lot of stories on how board games got families together and made good memories for life. I myself can get very competitive in games. Since board games can bridge generation gaps, they are handy to have when you do not know the exact age of the people all around. They are good icebreakers.

A friend said that he has spent about ten grand over a period of a kid to adult transformation. I heard from him about the card sleeves to protect the cards in the games.

Well other things games seem to do is veer a person off topic. Back to the game.

If you remember all these rules you are going to be a whiz.

Sell it Like Serhant

Sell it Like Serhant

"A successful salesperson is a conscientious follow-upper". With his Mantra of hardwork, being organized to manage many balls in the air, Ryan Serhant shows how he has been able to accomplish all the great things he did like becoming a great real estate man. The more shots you take, the more you are likely to win echoing the winning through hardwork ethos of Michael Jordan in

"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."

I havent heard of Ryan Serhant before or seen his TV show. I do like the human and artistic side of his persona through his acting passion which urges you to try creative ways of getting your things done like using improv to get comfortable putting yourself out there.

I couldnt get enough of the sale stories. I wanted more. Serhant is all about working productively to reach the goals. He adds a creative touch to his marketing activities. Glow-in-the-Dark party is a great idea for a place with low natural light for dark lovers. Creating Bowtopia for a customer is an example of paying attention to the uniqueness and happiness of a customer.

Adaptive Space

Adaptive Space

The author Michael Arena shows that between the Financiers and Doers, there is a bridge of enablers in the Adaptive Space that can be tapped in for enormous success. In this VUCA world, that is the only way to reinvent self and organization. No wonder that this book deals with the power of networks and hence refers works of many sociologists. I read of the 'third place' here first and then Starbucks made it popular.
Examples of Pixar, Qkr, Motorola Razr, P&G Connect have been shown to use adaptive space for their innovations.
You learn how to unleash these connections that will propel your organization's agility.
MIT's Stata center is shown how physical assets can be used to open up collaboration. You learn amazing social theories that show you how good ideas stay behind or come forth.

Girl in Dior had a lot of references to places, people I did not know. I pinned my searches.

Boats for Papa

My friend told me about this book Boats for Papa by Jessixa Bagley.
Its a touching story. I thought I was prepared to cry but didnt in the end. The illustrations are lucid. The seagull on the rooftop is so clear and so are the boat designs. The ocean is huge.
